Dress Code
The school dress code is an important rule that all students should follow as it provides many advantages to the place of education and the students enrolled. Schools with a dress code and uniform encourage "students to concentrate more on their studies and less on their wardrobe". When students are not paying attention to wardrobe, it allows them to focus on other topics that are more important. Emphasis on fashion can also make certain individuals feel like outcasts since they do not have the most up-to-date clothing items. As fashion usually requires a large input of money, a uniform can allow students to be equal. Certain "studies indicate that a school dress can reduce the prevalence of certain behaviors which are often expressed through wardrobe such as violence". By enforcing a uniform it decreases students chances of presenting themselves in an incorrect way. It creates a smaller chance of initiating violence because uniforms are calmer in the sense that they have no strong words on them or harmful colors. Without dress code, more students can become to feel left out and bullied for their choice of clothes. With dress code, not only do more students feel more accepted by their peers, but unfavorable associations of violence with individuals are also decreased.
